Description
Making your own cream cheese is easy and tastes so much better than store bought. It takes only 3 ingredients and about 20 minutes to make. Use it to make a veggie dip, a spread for bagels or any place you use a soft cream cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 c. fresh whole milk
- 2 T. plain white vinegar or 1/8 c. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 t. salt
Steps
- In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil.
- Once boiling, turn the stove to very low heat; add vinegar or lemon juice while stirring with a spatula. The curds will begin to separate and curdle. Remove from the heat.
- Strain the curds in a mesh strainer. Rinse with cold water. Strain again with a cheesecloth. Squeeze out excess liquid.
