Ingredients
1 c. shortening
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. water
1 t. vanilla extract
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
2 c. rolled oats

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together shortening and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in water and vanilla.
Combine the flour, baking soda and salt together; gradually add to creamed mixture; mix well. Fold in oats.
Drop dough by tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven. Allow to stand 2 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool.
Makes 3 dozen.
