Description
Cowboy bread was originally eaten by cowboys with beans or soup on ranches in Texas. It was a flat, crumbly bread. This one is a sweeter version, more like a coffee cake and is perfect for breakfast, a snack or a dessert.
Ingredients
- Batter:
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 t. baking powder
- 1 t. cinnamon
- pinch salt
- non-stick cooking spray
- Topping:
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 t. cinnamon
- butter, for serving, optional
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray an 8×8 baking dish pan non-stick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter, milk, and egg until combined.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
