What a way to use your bread and apples that you have forgotten about but don't need to be thrown away yet. It is so good and easy too! No need to warm up the kitchen either when you prepare it in the crockpot. Just prepare everything and forget about it!
3 lbs. cooking apples
10 slices of bread, cubed
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 cu. brown sugar
1/2 cu. butter, melted
handful of raisins, golden or regular
Crockpot liner
Place crockpot liner in crock. Wash apples, peel, core, cut into eighths; place in bottom on crock.
Combine bread cubes, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, sugar, butter and raisins; toss together. in a bowl. Place on top of apples in crock. Cover. Cook on low setting 2 to 4 hours. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
