Description
Why make those pre-packaged boxed hamburger casseroles when you can make your own? It is much healthier and tastier to start from scratch with fresh ingredients that you can trust. It is almost just as easy too!
Ingredients
- 3 pounds red potatoes, washed, peeled and sliced 1/4-inch thick
- salt
- Canola oil, to grease pan
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 4 T. butter
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- a couple dashes Worcestershire Sauce
- pepper
- 2 c. milk
- 2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 c. unseasoned dry breadcrumbs
Steps
- Place potatoes in a large saucepan with salted water and completely cover by 1 inch. Cook for 15 minutes, or until fork tender, don't overcook. Drain potatoes and arrange in a greased 6x9x2 inch casserole dish.
- Grease a large skillet. Cook beef and onion together over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is softened, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
