Make this autumn treat without much fuss or bother and without turning on the oven. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delicious homemade dessert.
1- 3.4 oz. pkg. vanilla flavor Instant Pudding
1/2 c. sugar, divided
1 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
10 Granny Smith apples, peeled, sliced
1 c. fresh or frozen cranberries
6 T. butter, melted, divided
12 vanilla wafers, coarsely chopped
1/4 c. sliced almonds
Line slow- cooker with a slow -cooker liner for easy clean-up.
Mix dry pudding, 1/4 cup sugar, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Toss 1/4 cup butter with the fruit in a large bowl. Add pudding mixture; stir. Spoon into slow cooker; cover with lid. Cook on Low 4 to 6 hours, or High 2 to 3 hours.
Combine wafers, nuts, remaining butter and sugar in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave 1-1/2 to 2 min. or until golden brown, stirring every 30 seconds. Cool.
Srinkle with nut mixture just before serving.
