Slow-Cooker Apple Crisp

Description

Make this autumn treat without much fuss or bother and without turning on the oven. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delicious homemade dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1- 3.4 oz. pkg. vanilla flavor Instant Pudding
  • 1/2 c. sugar, divided
  • 1 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 10 Granny Smith apples, peeled, sliced
  • 1 c. fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 6 T. butter, melted, divided
  • 12 vanilla wafers, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 c. sliced almonds

Steps

  1. Line slow- cooker with a slow -cooker liner for easy clean-up.
  2. Mix dry pudding, 1/4 cup sugar, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Toss 1/4 cup butter with the fruit in a large bowl. Add pudding mixture; stir. Spoon into slow cooker; cover with lid. Cook on Low 4 to 6 hours, or High 2 to 3 hours.
  3. Combine wafers, nuts, remaining butter and sugar in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave 1-1/2 to 2 min. or until golden brown, stirring every 30 seconds. Cool.
