This is a dangerously good treat for anyone who loves a mix of sweet and salty. The salty pretzels topped with butter, brown sugar and chocolate then topped with extra salt will make you a big fan!
2 sticks butter
1 c. light brown sugar
1 regular size bag pretzels (use about 3/4 of the bag)
12 oz. bag chocolate chips
sea salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line a large pan with parchment paper, cover with pretzels.
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. When it begins to bubble, add the brown sugar, stirring occasionally. Let butter/sugar mixture meld together and brown, about 3 minutes. DO NOT let it boil, or you will have sticky mess that is no good. When it is a nice, brown caramel, pour it over the pretzels, slowly and evenly. Then use a spatula to spread it out, working quickly and gently. It hardens fast, so even pouring is the best method.
Bake for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the whole bag of chocolate chips evenly over the mixture.
Place back in the oven for about 45 seconds. Don't let it sit there too long or the chocolate will burn.
Remove from the oven and use a silicone spatula to evenly spread the chocolate over the top.
Sprinkle with sea salt and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour.
