Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, separated
- 2 c. graham cracker crumbs
- 2 T. baking powder
- 3 T. cocoa
- 1 T. powdered coffee, optional
- 1 t. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1 t. vanilla extract
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts for garnish, optional
- Chocolate Sauce:
- 1 c. whipping cream
- 2 T. sugar
- 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 T. unsalted butter
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans.
- Cream butter, add sugar and egg yolks, mixing until well combined. Add graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, cocoa, salt, milk, vanilla extract, and walnuts; mix well. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture.
- Pour batter into pans. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
