Whether it is really a Southern dessert or Amish, it doesn't change the fact that this is probably the best, more delicious pie EVER!
1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 T. flour
3 eggs, beaten
pinch salt
1 t. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 deep dish pie shell (homemade or store bought)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Beat butter and sugar together until light. Add eggs and beat; then beat in vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients together; add to the batter alternatively with buttermilk; beat until smooth.
Pour into a deep dish pie shell; bake 10 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees; bake for 50-60 more minutes. When the pie is done, it should be a golden brown and when a knife is inserted, it will come out clean.
Serve warm.
