This is a simple cake to make. It doesn't take much time or effort but the results are over the top!
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
8 oz. sour cream
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. soda
1 t. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 can cherry pie filling
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. sliced almonds or nuts of your choice, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease an angel food pan.
Cream sugar and butter together. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat in sour cream and vanilla.
Combine the flour, soda, and baking powder. Add it to the batter alternately with the milk.
Pour half of the batter into the pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter. Add the remaining batter. Combine the 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nuts. Sprinkle over the batter.
Bake 50-60 minutes. Cool completely. Take the outside of the pan off. Serve on the pan bottom.
