Stir together the blackberries and sugar in a large bowl; let sit out for 25-30 minutes in order to make the juices needed. After about 20 minutes, turn on the oven to preheat at 375 degrees.

Start preparing the batter while the berries and making their juices to save time. Stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and milk with a wooden spoon. Stir in the melted butter and hand-mix it until the ingredients are well incorporated and you have few clumps.

Pour the batter in a small baking dish and smooth it out. There is no need to grease the baking dish. Pour the blackberries and their juices on top with all the sugar included and evenly distribute it over the batter.

Bake 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how golden you want it to be. Let it set up for about 15 minutes so it will hold its shape. It will be bubbling and quite hot, so be careful.

Serve warm or at room temperature with warmed cream, fresh or store-bought whipped cream or ice cream.

Store at room temperature with foil over it for 2 to 3 days, or longer in the refrigerator, but it probably won't last that long!
