Making these toffee treats isn't quick, but they are worth the time that it takes to finish them. They can also be made in a silicone brownie bite pan for 24 bites, if you are lucky enough to have one!
1/2 c. unsalted butter
1/2 c. margarine
1 c. granulated sugar
1/4 t. kosher salt
1/2 t. vanilla extract
12 oz. milk chocolate, melted
1 c. unblanched whole almonds
1 c. finely ground walnuts
On a foil lined 7x11 inch baking dish, arrange almonds in a single layer. Set aside.
In a heavy pan, combine butter, margarine, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium-high heat with a wooden spoon until butter melts, STIRRING CONSTANTLY!
Bring mixture to a rolling boil. Continue boiling and STIRRING another 5-7 minutes until candy turns the color of almonds -about 300 degrees. Pour over almonds.
Cool completely.
When candy is cooled and set -about 2 hours, spread chocolate over the top of the toffee. Sprinkle with ground walnuts. Cut into pieces.
