German Cucumber and Sweet Onion Salad

Description
If you are tired of the same boring salad, then it is time to make this fresh, easy salad. It would be great with tomato added, as well.
Ingredients
1/3 c. sugar
3 T. white or apple cider vinegar
1/4 c. water
1/2 t. salt
4 large cucumbers, washed, peeled, very thinly sliced
1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced
1 T. fresh dill weed, chopped or 1 1/2 t. dried

In a medium bowl, mix sugar, vinegar, water, and salt. Stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved. Taste- if it’s too sour, add more sugar, a little at a time until it’s neither too sweet nor too sour. Or, if you want it more sour, add more vinegar. If it's too strong, add more water. Set aside.
In a large serving bowl, combine cucumbers, onions, and dill. Pour the sugar-vinegar liquid over cucumbers and onions.
Place in the fridge and let it sit 4 or more hours- the longer, the better! Stir the salad once to coat.
Serve at room temperature, or chilled.
