Homemade Tomato Ketchup

Description

Ingredients

  • 28 oz. crushed tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c. agave syrup
  • 1 1/2 inch piece ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 1/2 t. kosher salt
  • 1/2 t. black pepper
  • 1/2 t. dried thyme
  • 1/4 t. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. allspice
  • 1/8 t. ground cloves

Steps

  1. In blender, combine crushed tomatoes, onion, apple cider vinegar, agave syrup, ginger, garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, thyme, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves; puree until smooth.
  2. Remove from the blender and place in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, stirring, until reduced by half, about 30 minutes. Cool.
  3. Store in an airtight container, chilled, for up to 1 month, or freeze.
