Make your own delicious ketchup that you know is healthier than the store-bought ketchup that everyone buys. Your family will thank you for it.
28 oz. crushed tomatoes
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
1/4 c. agave syrup
1 1/2 inch piece ginger, peeled and chopped
1 large clove garlic
1/2 t. kosher salt
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 t. dried thyme
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. allspice
1/8 t. ground cloves
In blender, combine crushed tomatoes, onion, apple cider vinegar, agave syrup, ginger, garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, thyme, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves; puree until smooth.
Remove from the blender and place in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, stirring, until reduced by half, about 30 minutes. Cool.
Store in an airtight container, chilled, for up to 1 month, or freeze.
Makes 3 cups.
