If you need a fast, economical meal then this casserole is for you. You can have it ready in a little over 30 minutes on those rushed weeknights.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 t. garlic salt
salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
15 oz. can tomato sauce
8 oz. package wide egg noodles, uncooked
¾ c. sour cream
1 c. small curd cottage cheese
½ c. green onions, finely diced
1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Cook egg noodles according to directions on packae. Rinse noodles in cold water; drain.
While noodles are cooking, brown ground beef; add garlic salt, salt and pepper. Drain grease off of meat; pour in tomato sauce; simmer over low heat 5 minutes.
In another bowl, mix sour cream, cottage cheese, and green onions together. Add salt and pepper, if desired.
Add sour cream mixture to ground beef in skillet; mix well.
Place noodle and meat mixture in the prepared baking pan; top with shredded cheese. Cook 20-25 minutes.
