Want a quick lunch but tired of the same old thing? Make this classic sandwich in a jiffy. There is something about fried bologna that just brings back great memories.
Ingredients
- 1/2 T. unsalted butter
- 1/4 inch thick slices of good deli bologna
- 2 slices white bread, plain or toasted
- sharp Cheddar or American cheese, optional
- mustard, optional
- mayonnaise, optional
- lettuce leaves, optional
- potato chips, optional
- pickle spear, optional
Steps
- If you have a cast iron skillet, bring it up to a medium-low heat, and add the butter. If not, just use a regular skillet.
- To prevent the bologna from curling up while cooking, score the edges of the bologna with a knife.
- Add the slice of bologna, and cook for a few minutes on each side., leaving some of the char on the slice. If wanting cheese, add a slice just before finished cooking the bologna. While the bologna is cooking, put two slices of bread in the toaster, if wanting it toasted.
