Make this delicious pasta for a meatless meal or serve it as a side dish. It is easy and so yummy.
1 lb. box penne or penne rigate, cooked as directed, drained and kept hot
2 T. butter or margarine
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 T. flour
3⁄4 c. chicken broth/stock or beef broth/stock
3⁄4 c. milk
2 t. parsley flakes
salt and pepper, to taste
1⁄3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta according to package directions, about 11 minutes. Drain and keep hot. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt butter/margarine; add garlic; cook over medium heat 1 minute. Add flour; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in broth/stock and milk; cook, stirring frequently, until sauce boils and thickens.
Add parsley, salt, pepper and cheese. Stir until cheese is melted.
Toss hot pasta with sauce; serve immediately. Garnish with a little more parsley and grated cheese, if desired.
