Holidays will soon be upon us and with them come special dinners that need special desserts. This pie is a wonderful dessert that will complete a special dinner. Top with a dollop of whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce and topped off with a berry
1 whole pie crust, baked and cooled or an Oreo or graham cracker crust
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/4 t. salt
3 c. whole milk
4 whole egg yolks
6-1/2 oz., bittersweet chocolate, chopped finely
2 t. vanilla extract
2 T. butter
whipped cream, for serving
Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan; stir or whisk together.
Pour in milk and egg yolks; whisk together.
Stir over medium heat until mixture just barely comes to a boil and becomes thick, about 6-8 minutes. The second it starts to bubble and thicken like pudding, remove from the heat. Add the chocolate, vanilla, and butter; stir until combined.
Pour the pudding into the pie crust; place in refrigerator to chill for 4 hours uncovered.
Slice and serve with whipped cream. If desired, drizzle with chocolate sauce and your favorite berry.
