Wow! This Black Forest cake couldn't be simpler. Start with a box cake, add marshmallows and cherry pie filling, then frost with whipped topping. And voila, you have a wonderfully easy and beautiful dessert!
5 c. miniature marshmallows
1 box chocolate cake mix, regular size plus cake mix ingredients
21 oz. can cherry pie filling
8 oz. container frozen whipped topping, thawed
maraschino cherries, for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Sprinkle marshmallows into the baking dish. Prepare the cake batter according to package directions; pour it over the marshmallows. Spoon the pie filling over batter.
Bake 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool.
Frost with whipped topping. Garnish each slice with a maraschino cherry.
Serve.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
