These festive little treats would be perfect for that holiday party that you are planning. It might even be fun to make these at a party and have a contest for the best one!
12 oz. dark green candy melts
1 lb. strawberries, washed and stems removed
24 Oreo cookies
white icing
white sprinkles, or your choice of color
candy stars
Icing:
2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
3 T. heavy cream
water, added by teaspoon until desired consistency is reached
Set a double boiler or heat-proof bowl over a small pot of simmering water on the stovetop. Slowly melt the candy melts in the bowl, stirring occasionally. Do not allow moisture to come in contact with the candy.
Spoon or pipe a small amount of icing onto the top of each Oreo cookie, which will adhere the strawberry to the cookie base.
When candy melts are fully melted, turn heat to low while dipping the strawberries using a toothpick inserted into the cut end.
Gently shake off excess candy coating. Carefully place the strawberry on top of the icing on the Oreo cookie using a second toothpick inserted into the pointed end of the dipped strawberry.
Decorate like a Christmas tree with sprinkles and a candy star while the candy is still wet. It will dry in about 10 minutes.
