Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Everyone will be asking you for this recipe after they have taken just one bite of these delicious treats. It takes Rice Krispie treats to a whole new level!

Ingredients

non-stick cooking spray
6 c. crispy rice cereal (about half of a 12 oz. box)
1 stick unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/2 c. dark brown sugar
1/4 c. heavy whipping cream
1 T. light corn syrup
1 t. flaky sea salt, plus more for sprinkling
10 oz. bag mini-marshmallows

Spray an 8 inch square cake pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Add cereal to a large heat-proof bowl; set aside.

Add butter to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. When melted, stir in brown sugar, whipping cream and corn syrup. Cook until thick and syrupy while stirring frequently, about 7 minutes. Stir in the salt. Turn off heat; stir in the marshmallows. Keep stirring until the marshmallows are smooth and melted.

Quickly pour the caramel marshmallow sauce over the cereal; stir.

Pour into the prepared pan and press down with a piece of parchment paper that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. Sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.

Cool completely, and then cut into squares.
