Mozzarella sticks have just been made even more delicious than ever with this recipe. Dip in marinara sauce to make them even tastier.
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
½ c. cooked spinach, well drained
2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 t. kosher salt
1 t. freshly ground black pepper
1 t. garlic powder
2 c. flour
4 eggs, beaten
2 c. seasoned breadcrumbs
canola oil, for frying
marinara sauce, for dipping (homemade or store bought)
Line a square baking dish with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, spinach, mozzarella cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder; stir until thoroughly mixed.
Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish; spread mixture evenly. Place in freezer 30 minutes.
Remove dish from freezer; invert frozen dip onto a cutting board; remove parchment paper. Slice the block into 1 centimeter strips, then slice strips into sticks.
Place flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs into 3 separate bowls. Dip spinach dip sticks into the flour, then eggs, then breadcrumbs, then back into eggs, and finally back into the breadcrumbs. Set the breaded sticks aside on a platter.
Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Fry sticks for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, until golden brown.
Cool. Serve with marinara sauce.
