Make your own fun snack with these delicious toffee bites, They are a sweet and salty treat ad simple to make.
40 saltine crackers
1 c. unsalted butter
1 c. brown sugar
8.75-oz. bag cereal and pretzel snack mix, crushed
12-oz. bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c. sliced or slivered almonds, optional
1/2 t. kosher salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with non-stick aluminum foil.
Place crackers on baking sheet in a single layer.
Preheat medium saucepan on medium-high for 2–3 minutes. Place butter in pan; melt; stir in sugar; bring to boil; cook 3 minutes. Immediately pour over crackers, spreading to cover crackers completely.
Bake crackers 5–6 minutes or until bubbling vigorously. Pierce a small hole in the top of snack mix bag; crush by hand or with rolling pin.
Remove baking sheet from oven; sprinkle chocolate chips over top; let stand 5 minutes.
Spread melted chocolate with a spatula until toffee is coated with chocolate; sprinkle snack mix, almonds if using and salt over chocolate.
Chill 30–45 minutes or until brittle enough to break into bite-size pieces.
Serve.
