Chocolate Chip Gooey Butter Cake

This yummy cake can be served for breakfast, as a snack or as a dessert. It is so easy and so good, you will make it often.

Ingredients

Cake:
18 1/4 oz. box yellow cake mix
1 egg
1⁄2 c. butter, melted

Filling:
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 t. pure vanilla extract
16 oz. box powdered sugar
1⁄2 c. butter, melted
1 c. chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine cake mix, egg, and butter; mix well. Pat into the bottom of prepared pan; set aside.

Using the electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth; add eggs and vanilla; add in powdered sugar; beat well. Reduce mixer speed; slowly pour in butter; mix well.

Pour filling onto cake mixture; spread evenly. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of filling.

Bake 40 - 50 minutes. You may need to make a judgment call on the cooking time, because oven temperatures can vary. The center should be a little gooey.
