Ranch dressing and dip is always good, but it can be even better if you make it yourself. Serve it on a salad or as a dip for your favorite vegetables.
1-2 garlic cloves
salt, to taste
1/4 c. freshly chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley
2 T. freshly chopped chives
1 c. real mayonnaise
1/2 c. sour cream
buttermilk, as needed for desired consistency
white vinegar, to taste, optional
Worcestershire sauce, to taste, optional
fresh chopped dill, to taste, optional
cayenne pepper, to taste, optional
paprika, to taste, optional
freshly chopped oregano, to taste, optional
Tabasco sauce, to taste, optional
Mince garlic with a knife; sprinkle on about 1/8 - 1/4 t. salt; mash into a paste with a fork.
Finely chop parsley, chives, dill and oregano; add to the garlic.
In a bowl, combine all ingredients, adding optional ingredients as desired, tasting frequently and adjusting seasonings, as desired. Chill for several hours before serving. Thin with a little milk or buttermilk, if necessary.
