Serve this comforting Country Sausage Gravy over flaky buttermilk biscuits as the main breakfast dish or with eggs, bacon, fried potatoes and sausage.
1 lb. sage pork breakfast sausage
3 T. butter
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3 c. milk
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage until brown. Break up meat to small crumbles. Drain any excess oil, keeping 1 tablespoon of the sausage oil in the pan. Add butter; stir well until melted.
Sprinkle sausage with flour; stir; cook for several minutes. Add milk; stir. Continue stirring occasionally over medium heat until gravy thickens, about 5-10 minutes.
Serve over biscuits, if desired.
