You will immediately fall in love with this homemade dressing. It's fresh, loaded with herbs, healthy all-natural ingredients with no preservatives.
1/2 c. good-quality mayonnaise
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 T. freshly minced parsley (or 1 T. dried)
1 1/2 t. freshly minced dill (or 1/2 t. dried)
1/2 t. apple cider vinegar
1/2 t. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. onion powder
1/4 t. salt
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream and buttermilk until smooth; stir in parsley, dill, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and onion powders, salt and pepper; blend well. Adjust seasonings, to taste. Cover; refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. If consistency is too thick, thin out with a splash of buttermilk.
If you don't have any buttermilk on hand, make your own: pour 1 1/2 t. freshly squeezed lemon juice or white vinegar into a 1 cup liquid measuring cup. Fill the measuring cup up to the 1/2 cup line with milk (whole milk is best but low-fat/skim milk will work). Allow to sit for 5 - 10 minutes before proceeding with recipe.
*Make Ranch Dip instead of dressing: use a total of 3/4 c. mayonnaise, 3/4 c. sour cream and eliminate the buttermilk.
