Need a delicious dessert this summer but don't want to turn on the oven? This one is so easy and refreshing. It's decadent with dark chocolate Oreo cookies for the crust and a cherry pie and Cool Whip filling.
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 t. almond extract
16 oz. container Cool Whip, thawed and divided
21 oz. can cherry pie filling, divided
1 package Dark Chocolate Oreo cookies (32 cookies)
1/2 c. milk
Beat cream cheese, sugar and extract until creamy; stir in 1 c. pie filling; gently fold in 3 c. Cool Whip. Spread 2 T. mixture on the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch pan.
To soften cookies, dip 16 cookies 1 at a time in the milk; place on the bottom of the pan.
Spread half of the cherry filling on top of the cookies; repeat with the remaining Oreos; top with the remaining cherry filling. Spread 2 c. Cool Whip on top.
Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Garnish with the remaining pie filling before serving.
