This popular drink born in Manhattan, not Moscow, but might have been named for the Russian Smirnoff Vodka that was used. Serve it in a copper mug, which takes on the cold temperature of the liquid.
2 oz. good quality vodka
1 T. (½ oz.) freshly squeezed lime juice
4 oz. ginger beer
ice
lime wedge and sprig of mint, for garnish
Fill a copper mug (or a tall cocktail glass) with ice.
Add vodka and lime juice; add 4 oz. ginger beer. Stir well. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint.
Serve cold.
