Why use store bought caramel sauce when you can make your own that is more economical and is rich, delicious and so much better?
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
boiling water
Remove the paper label from the UNOPENED can of condensed milk.
Fill a deep medium saucepan with enough water to submerge the can. Bring the water to a boil. Carefully place the can in the saucepan, ensuring that there is enough water to completely cover the can at all times, topping up the water frequently throughout the cooking process. Simmer, uncovered for 3 hours. It's very important to ensure that the can is completely covered with water at all times during the cooking process.
Carefully remove the can from the boiling water. Allow to cool completely before opening and using as a caramel spread or dip.
