Why buy this yummy snack when you can easily and economically make it yourself? It's a sweet, crunchy treat that's ready in just a little over 1 hour. It makes great holiday teacher or hostess gifts, just place in bags and tie with a pretty ribbon.
Ingredients
- 3/4 c. un-popped popcorn
- 1 c. salted pecans
- 1 c. salted almonds
- 1 c. salted peanuts
- 2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. light Caro syrup or corn syrup
- 1 c. butter
- 1/2 t. baking soda
- 1 t. salt
- 1 t. vanilla
- 4 oz. bar white chocolate, melted
- 4 oz. bar semi-sweet or milk chocolate, melted
Steps
- Pop the popcorn; discard un-popped kernels; pour into a bowl; add pecans, almonds and peanuts; set aside.
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
- In a sauce pan mix: brown sugar, Caro syrup, butter; stir on medium heat; bring to boil for 5 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in baking soda, salt and vanilla; mix until combined. Pour over popcorn and nuts in a large bowl; mix until coated. Separate into 2 baking sheets/pans that have been lined with silicon baking mats.
