Why buy this yummy snack when you can easily and economically make it yourself? It's a sweet, crunchy treat that's ready in just a little over 1 hour. It makes great holiday teacher or hostess gifts, just place in bags and tie with a pretty ribbon.
3/4 c. un-popped popcorn
1 c. salted pecans
1 c. salted almonds
1 c. salted peanuts
2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. light Caro syrup or corn syrup
1 c. butter
1/2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
4 oz. bar white chocolate, melted
4 oz. bar semi-sweet or milk chocolate, melted
Pop the popcorn; discard un-popped kernels; pour into a bowl; add pecans, almonds and peanuts; set aside.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
In a sauce pan mix: brown sugar, Caro syrup, butter; stir on medium heat; bring to boil for 5 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in baking soda, salt and vanilla; mix until combined. Pour over popcorn and nuts in a large bowl; mix until coated. Separate into 2 baking sheets/pans that have been lined with silicon baking mats.
Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Split into thirds, placing each third on a separate pan. Pour 1 bar of melted white chocolate on one pan; pour 1 bar melted milk chocolate on a second pan; leave third pan plain caramel.
Allow to cool. Mix all together.
12 servings.
*Store in an airtight container for about 1 week.
