If you need a delicious, quick to make and economical treat for guests or gift bags, try these crackers. They are sweet and salty and will become one of your go to recipes.
1 stick butter (1/2 c.)
½ c. sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 sleeve Club crackers
1 c. sliced or slivered almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Arrange Club crackers with the holes facing up on a cookie sheet with sides touching, packing them tightly together, breaking some in half if needed.
In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar together on medium-high heat. When mixture gets bubbly, cook for about 2 more minutes; lower to medium heat, stirring frequently; remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour mixture evenly over crackers, spreading with a pastry brush to cover crackers completely.
Sprinkle almonds on top, pressing them down a bit with fingertips.
Bake for 7-8 minutes. Do not allow the edges of the crackers burn.
Cool; break apart.
Makes 30 crackers.
