This appetizer brings the classic pigs in a blanket to a new level. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
1 can Pillsbury pizza dough
2 - 12 oz. packages cocktail wieners ( remove from packing juices and pat dry)
6 T. butter, melted
1 t. Italian seasoning
1 t. garlic powder
pinch of salt
pinch of red pepper flakes
Dipping sauces: mustard, Ranch dressing, marinara, ketchup
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease the inside of an 8 inch springform pan with cooking spray.
In a small bowl, melt butter in microwave; add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and red pepper flakes; stir.
On a lightly floured surface, remove the pizza crust from tube; unroll onto floured surface; square it up. Use a pizza cutter to cut into strips that are 1 inch by 2 inches. Brush crust with butter mixture, reserving leftover butter mixture for later use.
Wrap each cocktail wiener in a small strip of dough; pinch seams together.
Place them standing up in the springform pan, not packing them too tightly.
Place the springform pan on a cookie sheet. Brush remaining butter mixture over the tops of the pigs in a blanket.
Bake uncovered for 5-10 minutes; cover loosely with aluminum foil for the last 20-25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
Serve with favorite dipping sauces.
