Description
Ice box pies go by that name because they are stored in the refrigerator/ice box. This easy, delicious dessert pairs a store bought chocolate graham cracker crust with orange flavors, which go so well together.
Ingredients
- 9 inch prepared chocolate graham cracker crust
- 4 egg yolks
- 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- 1/4 c. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 T. citrus zest
- 1/2 t. orange extract
- 1 c. heavy cream
- 2 T. granulated sugar
- 1/2 t. orange extract
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Be sure that there is a rack on the lowest position in the oven.
- Whisk egg yolks in a medium bowl until smooth; add sweetened condensed milk, orange juice, lemon juice, zest and extract; stir until smooth; pour into crust.
- Bake on the lowest rack until center of pie is just set, 15 - 20 minutes. Remove from the oven; let cool for 1 hour. Refrigerate for 1 hour until chilled.
