You can enjoy garlic bread and pizza together at the same time with this wonderful appetizer. It's so good, you just may decide that it makes a great dinner too.
Garlic Butter Bread:
6 T. butter
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 t. Italian seasoning
1/4 t. crushed red pepper flakes
16 oz. package frozen bread dough dinner rolls, thawed
Dip:
8 oz. package cream cheese, at room temperature
1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 t. Italian seasoning
½ t. garlic powder
1/2 c. pizza sauce
Topping:
1/4 c. pizza sauce
1/4 c. pepperoni, diced
1/4 c. Mozzarella cheese
2 T. shredded Parmesan cheese
2 T. minced fresh basil
1 t. crushed red pepper flakes
Garlic Butter Bread:
Microwave butter, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes, until butter is melted.
Cut each dinner roll into halves; roll each piece into a ball.
Place dough balls along the outer edge of a 13 inch cast iron skillet, leaving the center open. Brush the tops of the roll balls with melted butter mixture. Set aside remaining butter.
Cover; let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes. While dough is rising, preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Bake until dough balls are set and beginning to brown, 15-18 minutes.
Dip:
Combine cream cheese, Mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and pizza sauce. Spoon into the center of skillet.
Topping:
Top with the remaining sauce, Mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Brush rolls with some remaining butter mixture.
Cover with foil. Bake 15 minutes; remove foil; bake 10 minutes or until dip is heated through and rolls are golden brown.
Top with basil, Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes.
Serve immediately.
