Bring back memories from grandma's kitchen with this delicious and easy to make pie. The hardest part about making this pie is the waiting for it to cool down before indulging in its silky, smooth and chocolate goodness.
Crust:
10 inch baked pie crust
Filling:
1 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 T. all-purpose flour
2 T. cocoa
1 1/2 c. milk
2 egg yolks
1 t. vanilla
3 T. butter, melted
whipped cream and chocolate shavings, for toppings
In a large saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour and cocoa.
In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, egg yolks and vanilla; pour into the saucepan. Turn heat to medium; stir in butter; heat to rolling boil for 1 minute until thickened.
Pour into the baked pie crust; smooth out the top or tap the pie on the countertop to help it settle. Let cool at room temperature for 2 hours. Chill in the refrigerator for another 2 hours.
Serve, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
6-8 servings.
Refrigerate any leftovers.
