What dessert could be easier to make than one where you just dump all of the ingredients together? It's delicious and has all of the flavors of an apple pie but much simpler.
2 - 20 oz. cans apple pie filling
¼ t. allspice
¼ t. cinnamon
½ of a 10.8 oz. bag Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels or similar size caramels (cut into halves)
1 box super moist butter yellow cake mix, dry
1 1/2 stick salted butter, cut into 15 pats
vanilla ice cream, for serving if desired
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 × 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Dump all of the apple pie filling into the baking dish. Sprinkle allspice and cinnamon over apples; stir to mix; smooth with a spatula or a spoon.
Cut half of the bag of caramels (5.4 oz.) into halves. Sprinkle them evenly over the top of the apples. Top with DRY cake mix; smooth with a spatula or a spoon. Evenly place cold butter pats on top.*
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Rotate pan half way through cooking. The cake is done when the sides of the cake are bubbling and is golden brown on top.
Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
12 servings.
*Tip: This cake will turn out best by just dumping all ingredients together. DON'T mix it up.
