Homemade snacks are always a hit at any party or gathering and it's the same with these cheese straws. They are packed with a rich cheddar flavor, are savory and have a peppery kick.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened
- 1 lb. block sharp (orange) Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 1/2 t. salt
- dash garlic powder or to taste
- 1 - 2 t. ground red pepper
- 1/2 t. paprika
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a heavy-duty stand mixer, beat first 6 ingredients at medium speed until blended.* Gradually add flour, beating just until combined.
- Use a cookie press with a star-shaped disk to shape mixture into long ribbons, following manufacturer's instructions, on the prepared baking sheets. Cut the ribbons into 2 inch lengths.
