Description
This is a popular cake in the St. Louis area but now you can enjoy it anywhere. It's a sweet, buttery, rich cake that can serve as a coffee cake at breakfast time or as a dessert after dinner.
Ingredients
Crust:
non-stick cooking spray
1 box vanilla or yellow cake mix
6 T. real butter, melted
1 large egg
Filling:
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. real butter, melted (1 stick)
2 large eggs
2 t. pure vanilla extract
pinch kosher salt
16 oz. box powdered sugar, plus more for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Crust:
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter and egg; press into prepared pan.
Filling:
In another large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together cream cheese, melted butter, eggs, vanilla and salt; add powdered sugar; beat until smooth; pour over crust.
Bake until golden and puffed, about 40 minutes. The center should still be gooey. Let cool.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Serve.
