This popular cocktail has its roots in Florence, Italy. It is considered an apéritif. It's typically stirred, not shaken.
1 oz. gin
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. sweet vermouth
orange peel, for garnish
Place ice in a mixing glass or a cocktail shaker; add gin, Campari, and vermouth; stir until well-chilled. Strain into an ice filled rocks glass.
Twist the orange peel over the cocktail to release the orange essence; drop the peel into the cocktail or place it on the rim.
Serve.
