Sonic drive-in fast food restaurant is famous for their Limeade drinks. You can make your own at home with this recipe. Although it's non-alcoholic and kid friendly, you can make an adult version with a bit of vodka, if desired.
crushed ice
1 c. freshly squeezed lime juice from about 8-10 limes, chilled
1/2 c. superfine sugar or less, if desired
2 liter bottle Sprite, chilled or diet Sprite (or any lemon-lime flavored soda)
10 oz. jar Maraschino cherries, with syrup
1-2 medium limes, thinly sliced
Fill a large pitcher halfway with crushed ice.
In a medium bowl, combine lime juice and sugar; stir until sugar starts to dissolve; pour over the ice. Add the Sprite, Maraschino cherries with the syrup and lime slices; stir.
Serve chilled immediately with ice and some of the cherries and lime slices at the bottom of each glass.
Makes 10 eight oz. servings.
