Description

Celebrate July 4th or Memorial Day with a beautiful poke cake. Start with a white box cake or even a store bought cake, then decorate it in red and blue Jello with red, white and blue sprinkles.

Ingredients

• 1 white cake mix and ingredients listed on the box
• 3 oz. package red Jello
• 3 oz. package blue Jello
• 2 c. boiling water, divided
• 1 c. cold water, divided
• 8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed
• ¼ c. powdered sugar
• red, white and blue sprinkles

Steps

1. Make cake following the package directions; let cool for at least 30 minutes.
2. Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes over the entire cooled cake, about ½ – ¾ the depth of the cake, but not poked all the way through or the colors will leak through the bottom of the cake and turn purple.
3. In a small bowl, dissolve red Jello in 1 c. boiling water; when Jello powder has dissolved, stir in ½ c. cold water.
