Many remember the incredibly delicious frosted brownies served in school lunchrooms. They are moist, fudgy and full of chocolate flavor.
Brownies:
1 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. granulated sugar
4 large eggs
4 t. vanilla extract
Chocolate Frosting:
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
3 c. powdered sugar
Brownies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9"x13" baking dish with aluminum foil; spray foil with non-stick spray.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, add butter and cocoa powder; use the paddle attachment to blend until smooth. Add the flour and sugar; beat together; add eggs and vanilla; mix just until combined. The batter will be thick. Do not over mix. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish; spread out evenly.
Bake 25 - 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove brownies from oven; let stand 15 minutes before frosting, but the brownies should still warm when frosting them.
Chocolate Frosting:
Beat together all frosting ingredients until smooth. Pour on warm brownies; spread out evenly over the brownies. Let cool completely before cutting.
