Serve these addicting copycat appetizers for your next gathering. They are crispy, cheesy, and spicy balls that really are easy to recreate at home.
2 c. Monterey Jack cheese, freshly shredded
1 clove garlic, minced
2 jalapeños, minced
1 c. flour
1 large egg, beaten
1 c. whole milk
1 1/2 c. plain bread crumbs
1 t. paprika
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. cayenne pepper
canola or vegetable oil, for frying
Combine cheese, garlic, and jalapenos in a bowl; mix. Shape mixture into about 3/4 inch balls, squeezing tightly to compress.
Place balls on a cookie sheet; freeze for 60 minutes minimum but 2 hours is preferred.
Preheat deep fryer to 350 degrees.
Place flour in a bowl.
In a second bowl, mix the egg and milk together.
In another bowl, mix together bread crumbs, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
Roll chilled balls first in the flour mixture, then dipping into the egg mixture, and lastly coating in the bread crumb mixture.
Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes per batch or until golden brown.
Drain on a paper towel lined platter.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
