Change Sloppy Joes into a casserole with a few extra ingredients, like buttermilk biscuits and Cheddar cheese. Make it into a Sloppy Jane casserole with ground turkey instead of ground beef, if desired.
1 lb. lean ground beef (at least 85%)
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped green bell pepper
15 oz. Sloppy Joe sauce, your favorite
1/4 t. black pepper or crushed red pepper flakes
3/4 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (3 oz.)
16.3 oz. can refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers Buttermilk Biscuits (8 Count)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 13x9 inch (3 quart) glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In 10 inch non-stick skillet, cook ground beef, onion and bell pepper over medium-high heat for 6 - 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; discard excess grease.
Stir in Sloppy Joe sauce and red pepper flakes. Heat until simmering over medium heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat; stir in cheese until melted.
Separate dough into 8 biscuits; separate each biscuit into 2 layers, making a total of 16 biscuit rounds.
Transfer mixture into the prepared baking dish. Arrange biscuit rounds on top of the mixture, with biscuits slightly overlapping.
Bake 23 - 27 minutes or until biscuits are thoroughly baked and golden brown.
