A wine slushie mix is fun, but expensive to buy. Why buy it when it's affordable and easy to make at home?
Mix:
1 2/3 - 1 3/4 c. granulated sugar (less for a sweeter wine, more for a dry wine)
1 1/2 t. citric acid
1/4 t. Matcha (Green Tea) Powder, optional
Wine Slushie:
750 ml bottle of wine
3 c. water
1 batch mix
Measure all mix ingredients into a food processor; run processor for 1-2 minutes to finely process the sugar and evenly distribute ingredients. Pour powdered mix into a baggie or airtight container until ready to use.
Wine Slushie:
Pour 1 batch of mix into a 1 gallon freezer bag or a large bowl. Add a 750 ml bottle of your favorite wine and 3 c. water; stir/shake well. Freeze for about 3 hours or longer before serving with straws in glasses . Garnish with fruit, if desired.
6 servings.
* Tip: Freeze the mixture for a bit longer than 3 hours, stirring/shaking every 30 minutes or so to produce a finer grained sorbet style dessert.
