A favorite dessert of everyone and easy to make too!
2 sticks butter, softened at room temperature (or microwave 10 seconds)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 can cherry pie filling
cinnamon and sugar, for sprinkling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour an 8x12 baking pan.
Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla; add 1/2 c. flour at a time until all is mixed in. The mixture will be thick.
Pour mixture into the prepared pan, reserving 1 c. mix for the topping. Add pie filling, not letting it touch the sides of the pan, but spreading well. Top with remaining mixture in dolops here and there. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake 45-50 minutes.
Cool in the pan. Cut into squares.
