Description
Make homemade granola bars that are healthier and more delicious than store bought bars and made exactly to your liking. Add nuts or dried fruit to make them truly your own.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 c. whole almonds, coarsely chopped
- 1/3 c. pure honey
- 1/4 c. unsalted butter, cut into pats
- 1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 t. vanilla extract
- 1/4 t. fine sea salt
- 1/2 c. dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 c. plus 2 T. mini-chocolate chips
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom and sides of an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- Place the oats and chopped almonds on a small baking sheet; bake for 5 minutes; stir; bake another 3 - 5 minutes or until lightly toasted. Transfer to a large bowl.
- Combine the butter, honey, brown sugar, vanilla extract and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook, stirring occasionally until butter melts, it's bubbling and the sugar completely dissolves.
