These scones are light, airy and moist on the inside and full of yummy dates. The preparation couldn't be any simpler.
2 c. flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/4 lb. pats/cubes cold butter
1/2 - 1 c. chopped dates
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all dry ingredients together; rub the butter in with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs; add and mix in 1/2 c. milk; add dates; mix in until just combined. They will be wet and sticky.
Spoon mixture onto a baking tray.
Bake 30 minutes.
Serve warm with butter and/or jam.
