Upside Down Spiced Pear Cake

Description

This is the perfect dessert to impress family and guests. It's elegant in its presentation but so easy to make. It's made with a boxed spice cake mix, pears, brown sugar and cinnamon. Yum!

Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 medium pears, peeled
1 t. cinnamon
15.25 oz. package Betty Crocker super Moist cake mix
1 c. water
1/3 c. oil
3 large eggs

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place butter in a 9″ round cake pan; heat in hot oven until butter is melted. Once melted, sprinkle brown sugar evenly over butter.

Cut peeled pears in half lengthwise; remove and discard cores. Cut pears lengthwise in 1/4″ thick slices; place in a large bowl. Sprinkle pears with cinnamon; gently toss to coat.

Arrange pear slices slightly overlapping in the cake pan over the butter mixture.

Prepare cake batter as directed on the package using water, oil, and eggs. Carefully spoon and spread cake batter over the pears.

Bake cake at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Cool the cake for 5 minutes on a wire rack.

Carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate.
